A Sinners Prayer
Dear LORD,
I have blown it over and over again. Why do I feel so helpless? Why is my heart so frail, so slow of learning? I strive once more for things that do not satisfy. I fill my belly with what is not food. I gorge my appetites on foreign passions. Give me beauty for ashes!
You know the way, LORD. Give me strength again. Strengthen these feeble hands and knees for a new day of struggle and warfare. You would still have the glory, in all in all. I still am here at your mercy. Lead me through the ancient paths of holy quietness of being, that I may find my abode within Your arms. For Your glory and renown, let the very breath be an uttered testimony of victory over the fleeting pleasures worldliness and iniquity. Be my vindication. Be my redemption.
I clothe myself with righteousness as my breastplate, and mercy as my rear guard. And as I wake from twilight slumber to dawn and morning freshness again, let darkness flee from before me, and in every wound may your healing balms be ever-abundant still.
Amen.
Clothed With Power
He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
The resurrected Jesus is manifested in wondrous glory in Luke 24, releasing us to a Commission to reflect that glory to the world. It's just so overwhelming to think that we are given such a task to fulfill. But it is the grace of the LORD that leads us in passsionate pursuit to glorify His name.
Jesus prayed to the Father that He would clothe us, the Called-out Ones, with the very glory that He had before the creation of the worlds. What yearning, what travail, what groaning does this reality generate in a genuinely yielded soul. But GOD is still searching, still reaching forward to fulfill His own Destiny... Why does the Church tarry?
The Gospel is to be preached with Apostolic power, piercing to the very marrows of the human soul to revive and resurrect. Let our cry be, "Clothe me, Heaven's Breath, Ever-present Beautiful Spirit with Your pure Power ignited strong. I cannot live without You. Let me fly with Your wind beneath me. In You I live and move and have my being. Let my self be totally rendered powerless and You take over now..." It's a heartcry that consumes us, a desperation that overtakes the Waiting Ones. we are to be witnesses of His Coming, His manifestation, His visitation. Repentance, Forgiveness of sins is still to be released to an ever-ripe Harvest Field.
Reflections
"After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing wide open in heaven, and the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking wtth me, saying, 'Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this'..."
These are the days of revelations. These are the days of spiritual sensitivity. Let us lay down all that easily beset us and run our race with determination and resolve. It's a tough ministry, but the Voice will keep our feet steady and our passion blazing. The voice that draws us close, "Come up here!!", shows us a horizon beyond anything conceived in time. We need to just step up and take GOD's hand for in His chambers, we see Him as He is. And in simply Seeing Him, we are drawn with devotion to the things He is yearning for. We hear His heartbeat, we are ignited with purpose, and pushed into true worship.
